Sleeping in a tent under the sky is not only magical but also a breath-taking moment. You can see the sky full of stars clearly which you cannot see when you are at home or you can hear many natural noises. If you cannot sleep well at night in a tent it will affect your next hiking day. So here some important tips to sleep well in a tent. 1. Invest in a High Quality Sleeping Bag A sound sleep is very important while you are on a trail. Buy a good quality sleeping bag which makes you feel comfortable in your trail. Do not buy an old sleeping bag if you are going camping for many days. Or you can buy sleeping pads, pillows and an air mattress for camping. Test your bedding system before go for camping So that you will know everything is completely ok or not for sleeping. Bring a tarp to avoid sleeping in the rain. 2. Keep an Eye Mask and Earplug An eye mask is helpful when u camping in summer or open space where sunlight will directly hit on your tent in the early morning. So wear an eye mask before going to sleep. Earplugs are essential because real world wilderness is much noisier. It also can blocks your tent mates snoring so that you can fell asleep faster. 3. Select a Strategic Place for Camping Choose a place which is flat, free of rock and on soft grass. Also locate your nearest toilet or area u want to go for toilet from your tent. So you do not have to search for it in the dark, cold or in rain. It will be good if you go to toilet before you go to sleep. If you are in a shared campsite, set up your tent away from noisy tent partner. Always sleep with a flashlight nearby so you can use it easily in the dark. 4. Get Rid of Mosquitos and Pests Before go for sleeping, make sure that there is no holes in your tent. You can get some mosquito netting, bug spray and set the netting or spray before sleep. You were active all day so your metabolism will be low at night. You may wake up in the middle of the night for snacks. Put some snacks near you. Also make some vents in your tent. Don not worry, you will not get cold with a little breeze. Vents in your tent will help air circulation and can minimize the chance of condensation. So open them a little. 5. Go to a Warm Bed It’s very important to getting a cosy warm bed at night. Your sleeping bag is not a heat creator. Even in the summer, night time can get colds in the wilderness. Check out your destination weather report and make sure that your sleeping bag is made for the right temperature. Do not wear heavy cloths before sleeping. Change the dirty or sweaty cloths. Wear long underwear. Clean socks for better sleep. You can also go for evening walk to warm your body for bed. Because sleeping bag liners can add warmth. For additional warmth, you can add blankets or warm hat. Do not waking up from any little noise. Stay calm. Sleep tight.
